This will allow you be able to teach that course immediately, and importantly he will provide valuable teaching tips for meeting the requirements of that course confidently, and to enhance your students learning, and a happy student is more likely to come back and spread the word amongst other divers!

Ian has an ever expanding portfolio of Speciality Instructor Ratings, so if you don’t see the one you want on the list, ask, he may surprise you as it has just not been added to the list.

Most specialities taught are the core specialties from PADI, however there are some more specialised and a few only available from Poole Diving and Ian.

Having five specialty instructor ratings is one of the prerequisites for the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating.

Ian is a massively experienced diver and Instructor, and is also able to progress your PADI Instructor Ratings to a large proportion of the PADI TecRec Instructor courses, so why not start that journey here, with him, and our experienced Tec Team.

The Fun Part

Whether it’s Deep, Enriched Air Nitrox, Drift or one of Ian’s own specialities, PADI Specialty Instructors are out there teaching more than just the Core courses, training the specialists. Join the fun.
As a PADI Specialty Instructor you are increasing your employability and marketability, and can challenge your students to become Master Scuba Divers.

What You Learn

Whether you’re already MSDT and just need that extra speciality, or you are on your way towards that PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and want more Speciality ratings Ian should be your Course Director of choice.

So you have three ways to become a PADI Specialty Instructor:

  • Train with a Course Director, (Ian).
  • Use your experience to apply directly to PADI.
  • Write your own outline.

Specialty Instructor Training course attendance, with a Course Director, is highly recommended. You will receive valuable hands-on training, technique demonstrations, course marketing information, and the current PADI Standards information, and when applicable, instructor-level open water training.

What You Can Teach

We recommend that you teach the PADI Specialties you like diving the most so start with. Build your experience and develop your ratings through your career.

At a glance, with the latest PADI App have all your speciality ratings in one place. Ian was on the BETA Programme for the PADI Open Water Course upgrade for 2020 and is helping develop further more advanced courses and specialities, so you really will get the latest materials and updates, as you continue your professional diver education.

The Scuba Gear You Use

As a PADI Instructor you will already have all the basic scuba gear, and some scuba accessories.
Depending on which specialties you want to teach, you’ll need other specialty diving gear such as dive lights or lift bags or twinsets.

If you don’t already have what you need we do.

Talk to us about equipment you will need, it maybe during your course you will use new and varied gear.

We have a vast array.

Learning Materials You Need

PADI’s Specialty Instructor Manual includes the specialty instructor guides for all of PADI’s standardized specialties. The outlines are also available digitally. Once registered, the digital specialty manual can be updated for a discounted price.

For Ian’s own specialities all outlines will be provided, digitally, during the course.

For all your learning materials and equipment, contact POOLE DIVING.

Prerequisites

For most Instructor level courses you must be a renewed PADI Assistant Instructor or PADI Instructor at OWSI or above.

You will rarely find these courses scheduled on our calendar.

Generally they are run on a bespoke basis.

So for more information why not have a chat with Ian or one of our Team members?
