So what do I get, how long does it take, and what is involved.

You will get Tec40, a Tec45 and a Trimix45 Certification.

This qualifies you to dive to 45 meters, with Unlimited Decompression, on enriched air up to 100%, and no specified Equivalent Narcotic Depth.

Whats Involved

It’s 5 Days.

  • Day 1 – Theory, get this out of the way.
  • Days 2-5 – Two Dives a day. These are not normally consecutive days, that is just hard work.

The schedule starts with the Tec 40 Course. This is the transition course from recreational to technical diving.

You’ll learn to

  • Technical diving’s risks and responsibilities
  • Technical diving equipment, proper rigging and set up
  • Gas planning, oxygen limits and decompression planning
  • Team diving techniques and emergency procedures, such as dealing with free flows, manifold leaks and out of gas situations

You'll also learn to

  • Use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with no more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 40 metres.
  • Use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 percent oxygen (EANx50) to add conservatism to the required decompression.

Since we are combining course some of your Tec 40 course credits toward the Tec 45, so on you go using those training credits and developing your learning onto

  • The skills, equipment and planning needed to dive to a maximum of 45 metres.
  • The knowledge to plan and execute single and repetitive decompression dives using a single stage cylinder of EANx or oxygen to accelerate or add conservatism to the decompression stops.
  • That the limits of your decompression are limited by the decompression gas you can carry.
  • To prepare for and respond to foreseeable technical diving emergencies.
  • To master the basic skills and procedures you’ll need as you move into deeper technical diving.
  • The correct scuba gear to use for a Tec 45 dive.

Then using the credits you have earnt as a Tec 45 Diver, for Poole Diving’s Trimix Instructors, we can then add the Trimix 45 Distinctive Speciality qualifying you to use up to 20% Helium

On the Trimix section you will learn:

  • To correctly and safely analyse a Trimix blend
  • To plan and execute decompression dives using open circuit scuba within the limitations of your Tec 45 qualification with a maximum of 21% oxygen and a maximum of 20% Helium as a bottom mix.

Whats the cost?

Based on two students its £625.00 per head. We are able to offer one on one tuition but this obviously incurs additional cost.

We do not cater for large groups for Technical Courses two is fine!

As with all Technical Courses signing up is not a guarantee of pass, this must be earned.

Additional days are charged at £125.00 plus VAT, but as we run the course on a modular basis you will get the chance to practice your skills between days, if required, to minimise this risk.

We are also able offer a pre-assessment dive, completed during one of our other training days, if you want to brush up on kit configuration or shut downs etc. before starting, for £75.00.

You will rarely find this Course scheduled on our calendar as generally it is run on a bespoke basis.

So contact us for a chat and to agree a schedule that works for you.

Where Next?

Use your course credits and complete the Tec50 next. You already have the materials required so with just 2 Days diving, and some theory away you go. Two stages and loads of Deco!
